AIAA Design Committee Chair

August 2017 - May 2018
After joining the LSU chapter for the American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), I started and lead a design committee of twelve members. We built and launched model rockets and won first place in the first annual Southern Lights Drone Race. Our drone weighed less than half a kilogram and sported a 3D printed PLA frame that I designed and printed using Solidworks and a Creality CR-10.

Model Rocket Launch

Starting AIAA's design committee taught me how to be an excellent leader. From gathering new members in free speech allie to organizing weekly team meetings for addressing issues and distributing design work. My teams shared passion and dedication is what ultimately earned us first place in the Southern Lights Drone Race.
To celebrate the progress in designing the racing drone my team built and launched personal model rockets over the weekend with great success.

Drone Design and Flight Simulator

Our drone was more powerful and lighter than the competition, but it would of all been for nothing if we did not spend countless hours on the flight simulator learning how to fly the drone faster than our competitors. The photo on the bottom right is the final 3D printed frame I designed.
