LaSPACE: ACES, ROCKON, and COTEL
January 2018 - August 2018 / Student Ballooning Intern
The ACES program introduced me to designing and building an atmospheric balloon payload which collected pressure, temperature, and humidity data over the change in altitude. I was then offered a position on the Correlation Of Terrestrial gamma flashes, Electric fields, and Lightning strikes (COTEL) project where I designed and tested an electric field mill and signal conditioning circuit. I also attended the RockOn sounding rocket workshop during COTEL at Wallops Flight Facility where my team built and launched a sounding rocket payload with a 3-axis accelerometer and Geiger counter.
