Mammoet is a big part of the super heavy lift and transportation industry. Using information collected in the field and reviewing local regulations, I created crane permit drawings with the optimal loading configuration to minimize permitting costs for over the road (OTR) transport of mobile cranes and counterweight. Worked with clients on site to define project scope and create transport, staging, rigging, and lift plans using AutoCAD.
Reviewed oak outrigger pad costs and determined that designing steel outrigger pads in house and outsourcing fabrication provided the largest cost reduction and fastest return on investment. I designed twelve sets of steel crane mats that minimized material and transportation costs while meeting technical specifications. My design reduced the total number of pads needed as well as the total time to deploy. Additionally minimizing the designs weight and taking advantage of steels longevity compared to oak, transportation and replacement costs were reduced.
